A Reduced Order Model Approach to Inverse Scattering in Lossy Layered Media

چکیده

We introduce a reduced order model (ROM) methodology for inverse electromagnetic wave scattering in layered lossy media, using data gathered by an antenna which generates probing and measures the time resolved reflected wave. recast propagation problem as passive infinite-dimensional dynamical system, whose transfer function is expressed terms of measurements at antenna. The ROM low-dimensional system that approximates this function. While there are many possible realizations, we interested one preserves passivity addition is: (1) driven (i.e., constructed only from measurements) (2) it consists matrix with special sparse algebraic structure, entries contain spatially localized information about unknown dielectric permittivity electrical conductivity medium. Localized means intervals finite difference grid. main result paper to show analysis numerical simulations these unknowns can be extracted efficiently ROM.

A High–order Perturbation of Surfaces (hops) Approach to Fokas Integral Equations: Three Dimensional Layered–media Scattering

In this paper we discuss a novel High–Order Perturbation of Surfaces (HOPS) method for the simulation of linear acoustic waves in a three dimensional layered, periodic structure. The model we consider is that of linear time–harmonic wave propagation which generates three dimensional, quasiperiodic, outgoing solutions of Helmholtz equations, coupled across irregular layer interfaces. We signific...

A spectral approach to 3-D object scattering in layered media applied to scattering from submerged spheres

A spectral formulation for 3-D object scattering in a layered medium is described. The formulation is valid when the source and receiver are sufficiently far from the object that multiple scattering between the object and waveguide boundaries can be neglected and the scattered field can be expressed as a linear function of the object’s plane wave scattering function. An analytic expression is t...

Resonant electromagnetic scattering in anisotropic layered media

The resonant excitation of an electromagnetic guided mode of a slab structure by exterior radiation results in anomalous scattering behavior, including sharp energy-transmission anomalies and field amplification around the frequency of the slab mode. In the case of a periodically layered ambient medium, anisotropy serves to couple the slab mode to radiation. Exact expressions for scattering phe...

An Asymptotic Factorization Method for Inverse Electromagnetic Scattering in Layered Media

We investigate the performance of a MUSIC-type algorithm for low frequent time-harmonic electromagnetic imaging of the subsurface. This algorithm is based on an asymptotic analysis and an associated asymptotic factorization of electromagnetic near field data in the presence of very small scatterers in the ground. Our numerical results illustrate the potential of this imaging method, and we prov...

Model order reduction for Bayesian approach to inverse problems

This work presents an approach to solve inverse problems in the application of water quality management in reservoir systems. One such application is contaminant cleanup, which is challenging because tasks such as inferring the contaminant location and its distribution require large computational efforts and data storage requirements. In addition, real systems contain uncertain parameters such ...
